Countless hours were spent researching online information about screen printing and the basics. After about a week, I decided to go with the traditional screen printing press and water based inks to get me started. As a beginner, I didn’t feel comfortable using plastisol inks as they are much harder to clean up. Most of my equipment was purchased in San Diego since I didn’t want to order online and wait for the stuff to be delivered. Google helped me find a couple of different shops where I purchased the following: heat press, water based inks, scraper, cold peel vinyl, weeding tool, and 10 different screens (Mesh Size 110 & 140) for the press. This was a simple yet efficient set up which helped me get through the beginning. As time went by, I eventually purchased better equipment but first I made sure I had perfected the basics of screen printing. The transition was smooth, since all I did was replace the equipment as opposed to learning on equipment that would of been much harder.
